Shrimp Tank Live · Effective 25 October 2026

Shrimp Tank Live ("we", "the app") is a 24/7 YouTube live broadcast of a shrimp aquarium, together with a chat bot that lets viewers interact with the stream from YouTube live chat. This policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, stored and shared, how long it is kept, and how to have it deleted.

Contact. Questions about this policy, or requests to access or delete your data: shrimpy@shrimptank.live

1. Use of YouTube API Services

The app uses YouTube API Services. By interacting with the app you are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service, and data handled through YouTube is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

2. Google user data the app accesses

Whose Google account

Exactly one Google account ever grants this app access: the channel's own bot account, signed in once by the channel operator. Viewers are never asked to sign in with Google and the app never obtains access to any viewer's Google or YouTube account.

Scope requested

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl — the YouTube Data API scope required to post and moderate live chat messages.

What that access is used for

The authorization is used for these three operations, and nothing else:

OperationYouTube API callPurpose
Find the live chat videos.list Reads the public live-chat ID of the channel's current broadcast, so replies go to the right chat
Post bot replies liveChatMessages.insert Posts the bot's responses to viewer commands into the channel's own live chat
Time out spam liveChatBans.insert Applies short temporary timeouts in the channel's own live chat, for automated spam detection and when a channel moderator requests one

The app does not use this access to read, create, edit or delete videos, playlists, comments, subscriptions, channel settings, analytics, or any private data of the bot account or of anyone else.

How Google user data is stored

How Google user data is shared

It is not shared. Google user data obtained through the YouTube API is not sold, rented, transferred or disclosed to any third party, is not used for advertising, and is not used to develop, improve or train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

Limited Use

Shrimp Tank Live's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Revoking access

Access granted to the app can be revoked at any time from the Google account's security settings at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Once revoked, the stored tokens stop working immediately, and the app deletes them from the operator's computer the next time it tries to use them.

3. Information about viewers

Separately from the API access above, the bot reads the channel's public YouTube live chat in order to respond to commands. Everything below is information a viewer has already made public by posting in that chat. The app does not receive private messages, email addresses, payment details, IP addresses or location.

InformationWhy it is usedHow long it is kept
YouTube display name and public channel ID Attributing commands and scores to the right person; showing names on screen While the viewer has a game record (see below)
Public avatar image URL Drawing the viewer's avatar on the on-stream overlay While the viewer has a game record
Text of public chat messages Showing recent chat on the overlay and interpreting !commands About 6 hours, then deleted automatically
Public member / moderator / owner badges Applying member perks and allowing moderator-only commands Rechecked on every message; not relied on from storage
Game state: play-currency balance, level, items, watch-time minutes, game results Keeping a viewer's progress between visits, and leaderboards For as long as the channel runs, or until deletion is requested
The publicly displayed amount of a Super Chat, Super Sticker or membership Showing an on-screen thank-you alert and awarding play currency A short rolling history of on-stream alerts

This information is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, in a private project controlled by the channel operator. Game records and chat text can be written only by the bot itself.

4. Service providers

Information is processed by these providers and no others:

No information is sold, rented, or used for advertising or profiling.

5. Cookies and device storage

The app does not place cookies on, or read information from, viewers' devices. It has no viewer-facing website or app of its own — viewers interact only through YouTube. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking.

6. Security

OAuth tokens are kept only on the operator's computer. The Firestore database is protected by access rules: game records and chat text can be written only by the bot, and administrative data cannot be read or written from outside it. Traffic to Google services uses TLS.

7. Deleting your data

The broadcast itself and YouTube's own copy of the chat are held by YouTube under the Google Privacy Policy and are outside the app's control.

8. Children

The stream is suitable for general audiences but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep a game record for anyone under 13. If you believe a child's record is stored, contact us and it will be deleted.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it, and any material change to how Google user data is used will be made only after obtaining any consent Google's policies require.
